Essential Question: What happens when families work together? Comprehension Strategy: Good reading know how to ask and answer questions. Comprehension Skill: Finding key details. Grammar: Combining sentences with the word "and". Vocabulary: Inflection endings. When a group of letters are added to the end of a word to change the meaning. The vocabulary words this week are choose, jobs, cost, spend, tools, customers, chores, and check. New spelling words are going home today. One group has A LOT of homophones. That means there are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and mean different things. For example, pear, pare, and pair. I worked with this group to draw pictures to help them remember. Have your children practice their spelling words at home the SAME way we practice at school that day. I know it will help with spelling scores. For example, today all of the groups cut out their words, sorted them by spelling pattern and highlighted the pattern. Also, take a look at their test from last Friday. Some kids are missing points by forgetting periods or capital letters on the spelling dictation sentences. :( The OCTOBER book orders are going home today. They are due next Friday the 11th to have the books in time for Halloween. |
